MOSCOW, ID – University of Idaho women's basketball team will host University of Hawai’i on Saturday, February 13 at 2 p.m. at the Cowan Spectrum in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center. The basketball game will be themed "Think Pink" in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness on college campuses.
The "Think Pink" initiative, created by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), will be combined with the NCAA "Pack the House" challenge to show nationwide support of women's basketball, National Girls and Women in Sports Day, and to honor equality for women's sports. To celebrate "Think Pink," Inland Cellular will be sponsoring the “Pink Zone,” and Mr. Jim LaFortune, a local junior high teacher currently battling cancer, will be speaking at half-time.
The rise in the number of people with cancer is no secret. The entire community is encouraged to participate in support of this important cause. $3 admission will be offered to any fan wearing pink, with $1 from each admission going to Relay for Life. Think Pink University of Idaho Basketball t-shirts will be available for $8.95 at the University of Idaho Bookstore and the Moscow location of Inland Cellular, with $1 from each shirt going to Relay for Life.
An after-game social, sponsored by Inland Cellular and hosted by Relay for Life, will be held behind the Cowan Spectrum. The social will feature speakers and light appetizers.
The U of I Ticket Office is located in the Kibbie-AUSI Activity Center (East end,) and is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To purchase tickets, contact 1-88-88-UIDAHO or visit http://www.uitickets.com.
